Hyperacusis: A new kind of dreaming, sound nightmares
I had of late my second experience of what I call "Hyperacusis Nightmares" better known as sound nightmares. It's unlike other dreams in that the focus of the dream is not on anything but sound.
In my most recent dream, I was walking outside. The streets were busy and a jackhammer started going off. Someone was working nearby. The sound was so painful, vertigo set in and I covered my ears with my hands. There was nothing I could do for the intense pain was so severe I began to cry in pain and fell to the ground as if I was being tortured by the sound.
It seemed to go on forever in the dream. When I woke I was drenched in a cold sweat and my eyes were wet. My body seemed to tremble. I was curled up in a ball on my bed clinging to the blankets tightly. The pain was gone. As if it never happened. But the nightmare was real enough and the memory of the pain lingered in my mind.
Upon getting out of bed and dressing, I ran into the bathroom for nausea built up in me making me vomit. For me, it is not unusual to experience nausea and vomiting with my severe hyperacusis with vertigo.
Both after the first hyperacusis nightmare and the second, sent me running to the bathroom upon waking to vomit. I feel fine now. Though everything is amplified and sensitive I'm not in any major pain from it.
I have to wonder if this is another part of my hyperacusis of which I'll need to adjust and cope too. It's been nearly three years to the date. On April 17, 2013, I came down with severe tinnitus, severe hyperacusis with vertigo and directional sound issues.
This experience is quite new to me.The first experience was maybe a month ago, roughly. I'd have to look at my notes. I can say this, it is not an experience I'd wish on anyone. Luckily, it was a nightmare or was it being it physically bothered me so.
