Tinnitus: An allergic reaction that caused me to take a deeper look
I had not been feeling well, the pain was back in the same place just as before. I knew what it meant because I had been to the doctors several times before from this condition. I had a kidney infection. The medicine they gave me was different. I was to take one pill every 12 hours.
I took the first pill on March 1, 2014. The second pill 12:00 p.m. on March 2, 20124. By 10:00 p.m. that night I had a reaction to the medication given to me for my kidney infection. Symptoms: severe abdominal pain, chest pain, irregular heartbeat (rapid), slight difficulty breathing, muscle weakness, hives and itching.
The first night I had the pill I thought my stomach was just upset, I figured I didn't eat enough. So before taking the second I made sure I had plenty to eat and drink.
On March 3, 2014 something had occurred that never occurred before, my tinnitus was almost all the way gone, it was barely noticeable. I documented the time and by 9:00 a.m. I was call my ENT Specialist to let them know what had happened. Nothing has ever had any affect my my tinnitus before.
It was always there, 24/7 without fail going off in my head, both ears. Certain things have made it flare up worst like stress, exercise, illness, being overworked but nothing has ever lessened my tinnitus. This was a sufficient amount of change.
I explained the situation to the assistant on the line. "Either the medication I had taken affected my tinnitus or the allergic reaction to the medication" One of the two was beyond doubt a proven cause of my tinnitus being almost not noticeable. I see the doctor this Friday to talk more about it.
Unfortunately for myself I was only without my tinnitus for two hours. It gradually came back just as it was before. How long it was gone I can not say for share, I was dealing with an allergic reaction and when I woke it was not there.
By 11:00 a.m. on March 3, 2014 my tinnitus was back. The hyperacusis was never affected by the reaction nor the directional issues I experience but the tinnitus was!
If it was the medication, it is something I can never take again but maybe others could. If it was the allergic reaction to the medication what was it that caused the change within, was it the muscle weakness? I am only grabbing at straws here. Could the muscle weakness I had experienced caused something within to change?
Friday's appointment comes not soon enough for me. I did get in touch with someone from the Tinnitus Organization and informed them of the situation. Many they would have answers. I don't see my specialist who deals with tinnitus until later in March a few weeks away. It will be interesting to see what my ENT thinks of all this.
With only two known things, one has to be the answer so many are looking for.
