Living With Hearing Sensitivity LWHS Today's Topic: Tinnitus Podcast 2

Be sure to catch our first podcast topic on tinnitus. I'm very excited about going this route with the blog and with providing support for others.

I'm at a point where I have the best doctor's support, a great managed care plan in place, and I'm fighting the fight and winning. Last year was a huge step for me when I could go out and just have earplugs in my pocket.

We've stepped up the game plan with vestibular therapy for my tinnitus and hyperacusis induce vertigo. In doing so we found that working on my imbalance issues with my ears has been helpful and that there are other concerns such as Tullio's, where sounds can set off my vertigo.

While the only treatment for Tullio's is wearing earplugs and trying to manage exposure to triggers, we are also expanding my walking therapy by introducing more sounds, by retraining the brain to not have those reactions.

Starting this podcast is like seeing the light at the end of a tunnel. Everything is falling into place one by one. The only major obstacle I have now is spikes. We're still working on finding the right combination of treatment to reduce spikes even more.

There was a time they were lasting two weeks with full blown migraines and vertigo, vomiting. We've now gotten down to a week and we're working on it's affects on my body. the loss of weight, fatigue, lingering nausea. we know that the Zofran helps with normal everyday nausea but has yet to really help during spikes. We also know that arthritis medication helps with pain more than any other over the counter medication. It can't stop a full-blown migraine or pain during spikes but it can ease the stress and exhaustion by helping.

So, my managed care plan is working and with time you too can find the right combination to help you live a happier, healthier, life.
